6 Wheat Kings off to Camp

September 8, 2010 - Western Hockey League (WHL) Brandon Wheat Kings

Brandon, Manitoba - With the 2010-11 Home Opener just over two weeks away, several members of the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings have either left or are about to leave for their respective National Hockey League Training Camps.

Three players including Scott Glennie were the first to leave this week. The eighth player chosen overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Glennie is off to Dallas. Joining him en route to NHL Camp earlier this week were right-winger Mark Stone and left-winger Michael Ferland.

While Ferland was the Calgary Flames' fifth round selection in this June's Entry Draft, Stone was chosen by the Ottawa Senators in round six.

Individual Tickets on Sale Thursday

September 8, 2010 - Western Hockey League (WHL) Spokane Chiefs

Individual tickets to the Spokane Chiefs 2010-11 season will go on sale on Thursday, September 9th at 9:00. Fans can purchase seats to individual games by calling the Chiefs office at (509) 535-PUCK (7825) or TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT (7328).

Tickets range in price from $10-$19.

Spokane will play 25 home weekend dates, including 16 on Saturday nights. Spokane will open the home portion of the regular season on Saturday, October 2nd when the Americans visit the Arena. It will mark the 19th time in the last 21 years that the Chiefs have played the Americans in their home opener. Spokane and Tri-City will play each other 12 times, six times in each other's...

Cougars Sign Witala & Grewal

September 8, 2010 - Western Hockey League (WHL) Prince George Cougars

Prince George, BC - The Prince George Cougars are proud to announce the signings of 15-year old forward Chase Witala and 15-year old defenceman Raymond Grewal to standard Western Hockey League education contracts. Witala and Grewal, both products of Prince George, were selected by the Cougars in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft.

Witala was taken in the fifth round, 89th overall, by the Cougars in the Bantam Draft. Last season for the Prince George Bantam AAA Cougars, Witala scored 57 goals and added 53 assists for 110 points in only 47 games. The 5'9", 140 pound will make his Cougars debut Saturday night in an exhibition game against the Edmonton Oil Kings at CN...

Preseason Game Moved To St. Paul

September 8, 2010 - United States Hockey League (USHL) Sioux City Musketeers

The Sioux City Musketeers have announced a change for the Saturday, September 11th preseason game originally scheduled at Dubuque. The game will now be played that same day in St. Paul, Minnesota at the Xcel Energy Center at 4:00 p.m. Fans are welcome to attend this special preseason event at the home of the NHL's Minnesota Wild.

Majors Trade McCann

September 8, 2010 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Mississauga St. Michael's Majors

Mississauga, ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors have traded forward Brendan McCann to the Windsor Spitfires in exchange for a eleventh round draft pick in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection.

McCann, 17, is entering his second season in the Ontario Hockey League. The 5'11", 174 pound left winger is a native of Windsor. Last season, McCann appeared in 11 games for the Majors; netting 2 goals for 2 points. He was a plus 1 and also served 2 penalty minutes.
