Prince George Spruce Kings vs. Merritt Centennials Sept 8, 2012

PG#14 RW, Luedtke, Jeremiah(2013) Small forward whose best attribute is his speed. However, other parts of his game must improve significantly. Made a number of bad reads throughout the game, and committed a lot of turnovers. Had a few in the neutral zone that turned into an odd man rush the other way. Below average strength, particularly around the boards. Luedtke has a difficult time staying on his feet when an opponent is all over his back. He cannot get inside positioning on an opponent with a puck to take it away. Has below average instincts with and without

the puck.

PG#21 RD, Eden, Mitch(2013) Smooth puck moving defenseman who had a very good game for Prince George. Made solid reads with the puck all game long. Looked very poise with the puck as well. Quite strong around the boards and on his skates. He was good in his own zone. Used his stick effectively and was in the right position most of the time. Has a tendency to get too aggressive at times. Also needs to improve on his passing skills. It is generally good, but could be better, especially in traffic. Not the fastest skater, but has some quickness to him. Size is a bit of a concern. Only stands at 5’11.

MER#4 RD, Chanter, Dylan(2014) Big defenseman who had some good moments in the game. Definitely more of a home stay defenseman. Maintained good gap control with his stick and did well to angle opponents to the wall. The problem occurs when forwards are coming at him in full speed. Has a difficult time keeping up with them and needs to improve on his lateral movement. Made some good outlet passes throughout the game, but needs to improve on his puck handling skills. Must improve his shots and make decisions quicker to prevent a crowd from forming in the slot and take the shot away. Looks very raw and a little awkward at 6’3, but some potential seems to be there.

MER#19 RW, Cuglietta, Diego(2013) Good skating forward who displayed some good skills at times. Not very strong on his skates, and lost many battles along the boards. Not very good at reading the play and handling the puck. Must learn to bear down, and make good plays when the opportunities are given. Has a weak wrist shot that must be improved. Not too bad in his own end, but positioning was an issue a couple times. during the game.

SCOUT’S NOTES: This game was there for Prince George to take right from the start. They looked much more faster and physical than Merritt. The only impressive player from this game was Mitch Eden(2013). He looked very confident out there, and played a solid game. Could be a late round pick up in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Dylan Chanter(2014) has some potential to develop into a good defensive defenseman. He certainly has the physical tools. He just needs to work on his skating and look comfortable in his own skin. Other than those two players, both teams do not have very good players.

FINAL SCORE: 4-1 Prince George
