SA#4 RD, Bowen, Dylan(2013) 2 way defenseman had a quiet, but good game. Did not receive much ice time, but when he was on the ice he made some good plays defensively. Moved the puck effectively. Was not fancy, but got the job done. Bowen was in good position defensively for most of his shifts. Got caught overcommitting once in the corners and turned into a mini 2 on 1 down low. A good skater but could improve on his overall speed.
[sociallocker] Made some good tight turns around the corners. Looks quite raw, but some potential was evident.
SA#8 LW, Klonarakis, Michael(2013) Speedy winger who spends most of his time around the perimeter. Needs to attack the net more and be aggressive to put up some more points. Showed off some skill a few times during the game going down the wing and deking out a few defenders. Needs to be stronger along the boards. Largely ineffective all game.
WK#8 RD, Plant, Adam(2013) Small offensive defenseman who had a very good game. Finished off a nice goal on the PP, coming down from the point on a back door play and snapping one home very quickly. A very good skater, who must use his speed to his advantage to make up for his lack of size standing at only 5’9. Made some solid passes all game long and quickly got the attack going for his team. Needs to improve on his strength and be harder to play against, especially in front of his net. Committed to Harvard.
WK#9 LW, Pope, David(2013) Big, speedy forward who was a presence all game long. Really used his speed and size to his advantage. Has a good slap shot and was set up numerous times on the PP. Likes to go down the wing and try to cut to the middle. Displayed above average hands. Likes to play the game at a high tempo and looks comfortable doing so. Could be better along the walls and show more desire to retrieve pucks. Defensively, took away shooting lanes effectively, and gave opposing defensemen very little time to make plays.
SCOUT’S NOTES: Salmon Arm got dominated in every facet of the game. They committed too many turnovers, looked much slower and got manhandled consistently. They did not respond to Salmon Arm’s pressure once. Would have liked to see Dylan Bowen(2013) receive more ice time. Out of all Salmon Arm defensemen, he probably had the most effective night. Made good decisions with the puck and played well in his own end. Definitely has some potential to his game. Probably will never be a flashy player, but looks very dependable. If Alex Plant(2013) was a few inches taller, he would be a legitimate prospect for the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. David Pope(2013) looks to have some potential to his game. Has a good mix of size and offensive skills to his game.
FINAL SCORE: 6-0 West Kelowna [/sociallocker]
