CV#7 LC, Cooper, Steen(2014) Speedy forward who plays a grinding style of game. Likes to get in on the forecheck and throw his body around. A pest to play against, was in the middle of a scrum numerous…
[sociallocker] times. Has awkward strides, looks too upright and very choppy. Creates offense by going to the net with the puck. Shifty around the boards, protects the puck well given his size. Not very good at reading the play, and made some poor decisions with the puck. Will probably never be depended on to create plays.
CV#25 LD, Bechtel, Rylan(2013) Aggressive defenseman who loves to take the body. Got caught a number of times trying to land a big hit and they resulted in great scoring chances for Trail. Likes to take gambles, and they pay off when he successfully jumps the play, but is also often detrimental to his team’s efforts. On the PK, was caught running around too much and left the man in front of the net wide open which resulted in a goals against. Needs to learn how to contain the opposition. Has average offensive instincts. Would make good plays in one instance, then a terrible one the next. Will be difficult to play his type of game at the next level when he is only 5’10.
SCOUT’S NOTES: Trail is an awful hockey team. They were dominated by a Cowichan Valley team who are average at best. Keyler Bruce(2013), a ’92, was probably the best player in the game. A good 2 way forward who created offense with his solid play along the boards. I don’t see Steen Cooper(2014) and Rylan Bechtel(2013) as NHL prospects at this present time, especially with their lack of size.
FINAL SCORE:8-1 Cowichan Valley [/sociallocker]
