Hockey Prospect: How happy are you with your game this season?
Jacob Larsson: I’m really happy. The whole season I’ve been really good. I’ve played some games with the elite team here in Frolunda. I hope to play some more games with them, and hope the season continues to go as it has thus far.
HP: Is there any aspect of your game you feel has evolved or improved as the season has gone on?
JL: I think I’ve gotten better at skating. There’s more power in my skating. The first pass (has also been better). The small details, I think.
HP: What do you view as the strengths of your game?
JL: I think I’m a good skater with a good first pass and good touch for the game. I have an OK shot, I think, so those are my strengths.
HP: Every player has things they can improve on, what aspect of your game do you think you need to get better with?
JL: Everything needs to improve, of course. I think the biggest thing is the defensive game in the defensive zone and also the blue line game in the offensive zone.
HP: Which player do you model your game after or compare yourself to?
JL: I like to compare myself to Oliver Ekman-Larsson. He’s my type of guy.
HP: What are your goals for the rest of the season?
JL: My goal is to be chosen for the U-18 World Championship in Sweden, and to play some more games with the elite team here in Frolunda. Of course to go in the draft would be fun, too, so those are my goals.
HP: Have you focused on your draft status at all or have you blocked it out
JL: I try not to focus too much on the draft (rankings) and focus on my own game and play as good as I can. Hopefully that will help me do better in the draft, so I just focus on my own game and do the best I can.
HP: If you could take one current teammate with you to the NHL, who would it be?
JL: That’s a hard question…I think I would take my buddy Pierre Engvall (teammate on Frolunda’s J-20 team). He’s from the same city as I am so I’d take him.
HP: If you could take one guy you’ve played against, either in Sweden or in an international tournament, with you to the NHL, who would it be?
JL: There are so many good players. I haven’t met him but the one I’d like to play with is Connor McDavid of course. He’s a really good player and I think many players want to play with him so I’ll take him.
HP: Lastly, if you’re drafted into the CHL and the NHL team that drafts you wants you to come overseas, would you do it?
JL: I’d have to discuss that with Frolunda here and my agent so I’d make a decision then, but I’m open to it of course.
