2023 Canada Games: Team Prince Edward Island Preview

Team Prince Edward Island will look to follow up on a strong 2019 Canada Games event where they were able to win 3 out of 4 games in the preliminary round and ended up ranking 9th out of 13. As the host team, they will also try to bounce back from the QMJHL Cup held in Dieppe earlier this season where they were unable to grab a win.

Team PEI looks like a balanced team. They will be bringing a few underage players that have shown great potential when called up in U18 AAA or at the QMJHL Cup. Defenseman Jackson Batchilder could find himself playing an important role already, while forwards Ayden Mackay, Derek Andrews, Brody Molloy and Carson Murnaghan will try to make a good first impression in front of scouts for the 2024 QMJHL Draft.

Team PEI should be led by power forward and goal scoring threat Kayden McGuigan, as well as skilled and creative center Jordan Shaw. Carson MacKenzie, Ryan Dwyer and Austin Walker should also be among the main drivers on the team with a strong two-way game and a good compete level.

With their two most highly rated defensemen likely missing the event due to injury in Will Murphy and Eddy Doyle, Team PEI will need a strong performance from goaltender Hudson Bradley in order to achieve their goals.
