Summer is starting to wind down, and that means the 2027 NHL Draft scouting season is getting closer. Across junior, college, and Europe, teams are turning their attention to training camp. Players are heading back to their billets and getting ready for another season.
Our scouts and myself are still enjoying the last little bit of summer vacation before getting back into scout mode.
I have been working on our website the past few weeks. I have cleaned things up a bit and I’m still finishing up some last tweaks that will take me into September. I also made some adjustments to our process for completing our draft book with the hope being we can make our spring a little easier and maybe even release the book a bit earlier.
The opening weeks of the season are always interesting. Scouts are getting their first extended looks at returning prospects, evaluating players who got stronger over the summer, and starting to identify names that might emerge as the year goes on.
For now, there is still a little summer left. But summer hockey is over and regular season hockey is coming fast.
