Jeremy Gregoire – Chicoutimi Saugeneens – 2013 NHL Draft

Our scouts had a lot of viewings of Grégoire this season.  We love his compete level and the way he pays attention to little details in the game. He handles every situation

within the game well and makes very few mistakes. He is very tenacious with the puck and showed good strength for a 16 year old player. Grégoire will block shots for his team and go through heavy traffic to make plays. He also likes to initiate contact along the boards or in front of the net and will get into the odd fight here and there. He makes life hard for his opponents and wins a lot of battles for the puck. Grégoire is at his best when challenged by his coach, whether it be killing a penalty or a defensive assignment to contain a specific player. Offensively, Grégoire relies on his great hockey IQ. He is not extremely gifted with the puck, but he has smooth hands create some time for his teammates to get open. He also has an excellent wrist shot that he uses around the net. He will never be categorized as a great offensive player but he is smart enough to be productive of-fensively and play a strong two-way game. Like many 16 year old players, Grégoire needs to improve his speed and explosion. He has very little speed in the neutral zone and this is an area where he could be more effective. Grégoire is what you could call a “gamer” with his intensity, his great awareness, and hockey IQ on the ice. This makes him a very interesting player for next year’s draft.
