Feb 6, 2013,Buffalo Regals vs. Niagara North Stars (Minor Midget AAA regular Season)

BUF # 3, D, Dockery, Dominic- Dockery has some pretty good skating and agility to rush the puck up the ice and get it in deep, and is also able to take a hit and still make a play to get the puck in deep. He was jumping down low…

[sociallocker]on the power play to get open next to the net and provide options and was able to make some good passes in the neutral zone to start the transition. He needs to be more consistent in his breakout passes however as he missed the target a few times.

BUF # 5, D, Burns, Ryan- Burns displayed some great physicality finishing his man off along the boards to separate him from the puck, and was also jumping up into the high slot on the power play to put a good shot on, but has to get the shot through. He played with a pretty good gap control and used his stick really well to force the opposition to the outside. He also made a really great pass to find an open man down low on the power play, and was moving the puck up well along the boards on the rush. He had some trouble holding the offensive blue line, and had some really bad turnovers. He made a really bad turnover right up the middle in his own end resulting in a good chance for the opposition, and also had a bad turnover as well in the neutral zone.

BUF # 9, C, Husted, Andrew- Husted was going to the net well, but needs to add some size and strength as he is knocked off balance far too easily. He made a great pass to spring a man into the offensive zone, and was able to put some good pressure on the puck carrier, but needs to have more compete, battle and desire for the puck. He made some good breakout passes, and has some pretty good speed at times when he gets going. He made a great centering pass to find a man in front of the net, and can get a cycle going as well protecting the puck properly. It took him a while to get going in this game, but was better later on, and he was also able to get a nice quick shot off from the high slot off the draw for a good chance. It. He had some great speed and pressure that he put on the puck carrier.

BUF # 14, C, Perna, Dominic- Perna had a great game tonight, he was battling for the pucks along the boards, and has some really good hands that he showed by walking in tight to the net for a good opportunity. He made some nice saucer passes in the offensive zone, was moving the puck well, and played with some good puck protection and agility. He has some pretty good speed off the rush, and was able to find lanes to rush the puck up the ice. He used his hands really well on the wide drive, but needs to try and drive the puck down the middle towards the net more. He was distributing the puck really well in the offensive zone, displayed his hands and puck skills, and was able to make a really great pass to move the puck down low on the power play. He has a good net-front presence tipping pucks, but has to watch some of the turnovers trying to force the puck through the opposition.

BUF # 18, RW, Giacebello, Jacob- Giacebello was battling hard for loose pucks, and showed some good aggression in this game. He was going hard to the net looking for loose pucks and opportunities, and was protecting the puck well on the cycle deep in the offensive zone. He was able to take a pass of the rush and dodge a hit to get the puck in deep, but still needs to pick up the tempo of his game as he is getting caught and looks to be in slow motion on the ice. He made a good pass across on the power play and moved the puck well down low, and was also able to take a pass next to the net for a great chance from in tight. He was putting some good pressure on the puck carrier, and got involved in scrums after whistles as well.

BUF # 19, RW, Abraszec, Aiden- Abraszec was hustling really well to get on loose pucks, and then lifted the opposition’s stick to take the puck away. He made a nice pass to find a man down low next to the net, and was also able to get a good shot off right off the draw, but has to hit the net on his opportunity. On the penalty kill he got in a lane to block a pass, and then another to block a shot then cleared the puck out of the zone. He was hustling hard, putting some good pressure on the puck carrier, and can make a great 1st pass to move the puck out of the zone.

NIA # 21, RW, Schmalz, Connor- Schmalz displayed some pretty good hands and moves trying to get the puck to the net. He has some nice speed, and the ability to skate the puck up out of his own end and gain the offensive zone. He was coming back for support in his own zone, playing physical as well finishing his hits all over the ice. He had a nice drive to the net looking for loose pucks and rebounds, and forced the goalie to hold on for a face-off. He has a bit of an awkward skating style, and was taking some dumb penalties in this game as well after getting frustrated.

NIA # 25, LW, Paterson, Austin- Paterson was hustling really well on the back-check, and showed some good aggression in this game but has to watch that he isn’t taking penalties. He got really angry and his frustration took over in this game causing a penalty that could, and should, have been more, and then later on snowed the goalie and got involved in a scrum right after. He was playing with quite an edge in this game, and has some pretty good size, and sued his body really well to win puck battles.
