Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs vs. Halton Hurricanes (Minor Midget AAA Regular Season)

HML # 6, D, Thivierge, JC- Thivierge has a nice hard shot from the point, but needs to get it through to the net. He displayed some good patience with the puck, and was protecting it well getting the puck in deep into the offensive zone….

[sociallocker]He was reading the play well to pick off turnovers through the neutral zone, and showed some nice agility and use of his stick to keep the opposition to the outside. There were times that he was too aggressive on the puck carrier in his own end on the penalty kill which put himself out of position.

HML # 14, LW, McConnell, Cam- McConnell put some great pressure on the puck carrier to force a turnover in the offensive zone and get the cycle started. He had some great speed to get on loose pucks and put a good shot on net off the rush. He was getting the puck in deep and driving hard to the net looking for loose pucks and opportunities. He displayed some great speed to get in behind the opposition’s defense for a great chance, and made some nice little chip plays to move the puck up on the rush. He was playing with an element of physicality, but has to add some size, and needs to hit the net on his shots off the rush. He needs to watch the turnovers trying to dangle his way through the opposition.

HML # 93, RW, Kelly, Will- Kelly made a really good centering pass to find a man for the team’s 1st goal of the game, and had a nice net-front presence on the power play. He put some great pressure to force a turnover and used his stick really well to knock the puck away from the opposition. He has some good speed and pressure that he put on the fore-check, and put some great back-pressure on as well to take the puck. He got in behind the defense for a break, but fanned on the shot, although the team still scored on the play. He needs to get the puck out along the boards in his own zone, and has to watch the turnovers trying to force a pass through the opposition.

HML # 97, D, St. Pierre, Aaron- St. Pierre has some really nice skating to rush the puck up into the offensive zone with speed, and some really nice shots from the point that are hard, kept down low and getting them through on the net. He is a real smooth skating defenseman, with some nice strength and puck protection displayed. He showed some good physicality in his own end, and was able to make a good 1st pass out of the zone to start the breakout.

HLT # 2, RW, Rapp, Aleks- Rapp showed some really good speed for such a big body, and was hustling hard for loose pucks. He made a nice centering pass to try and find a man in front of the net, and did a good job reading the play to get his stick in a lane and breakup a big pass in his own end. He is really strong on his feet, as he is able to take a hit and hold on to the puck to make a play. He has some excellent puck protection on the cycle, and needs to watch the turnovers holding on to the puck too long. He also needs to pick up the tempo of his game with the puck.

HLT # 19, D, Kiss, David- Kiss did a good job holding the offensive line, and got down to block a shot in his own zone. He was overly aggressive on the puck carrier at times getting caught out of position, and was also caught out of position on some pinches giving the opposition some odd-man rushes. He was coming down to the high slot on the power play to provide options, and was getting his shots through to the net from the point.

HLT # 61, D, Mercer, Matthew- Mercer was distributing the puck really well on the power play in the offensive zone, and showed some great agility and puck protection, but was holding on to the puck far too long at times resulting in turnovers. He is able to rush the puck into the offensive zone with ease and get a cycle started, and was getting down in lanes to block passes across in his own end. He showed some nice shot-blocking, and was moving the puck up well along the boards.

HLT # 77, LW, Dickinson, Josh- Dickinson took a pass down low next to the net, and made a great back-hand move in tight to score the opening goal of the game. He was protecting the puck well to draw a penalty, and had some pretty good breakout passes to start the rush. He needs to add some size and strength so that he’s not knocked off the puck so easily, and was taking some outside low chance shots off the rush.

FINAL SCORE: 5-4 Halton Hurricanes[sociallocker][/sociallocker]
