BWC#2 RD, Barberis, Matt Physical defenseman who made his presence known with some big hits against a much smaller team. Always looked to finish his hits. Needs to be pick his spots a little better however. He pinched down and nailed a forward with his head down, but another opponent was going out of the zone with speed and was able to take the loose
[sociallocker] puck and get a breakaway opportunity. A very good skater and was excellent at keeping opponents to the outside. Very good at handling the puck as well. Distributes it well, and has the ability to go all the way. Did not show the ability to be able to cut to the middle and finish off chances however.
BWC#7 C, Kryski, Jake A speedy, forward who plays the game at a high tempo. Showed off some nice hands today at a high speed and the ability to finish off plays. Loved to cut to the middle and use his above average wrist shot to try to score goals. Attacked the net time and time again and was not afraid to take some punishment to try to get one past the goaltender. Kryski showed off some nice vision today and ran the PP from the half wall pretty effectively. Drew in defenders then made some saucer passes to his defensemen who had rockets for slap shots.
BWC#17 RD, Fabbro, Dante A great talent from the backend. He is great with the puck, and was able to control the tempo of the game when he needed to. He is such a strong skater, and when combined with strong instincts, physicality and poise, he was dominant from start to finish. Fabbro was great at both ends of the ice, and just made plays happen. He can carry the puck end to end and get a great chance to score, then race back to play defense and crush an opponent with an open ice hit. Has a rocket of a slap shot. Was able to recover back if he made any mistakes in the neutral zone. Was able to save a goal with a stick check by the net.
LA#21 D, Cullinane, Sean A smooth skating defenseman who looked to join the rush and be a threat offensively. Displayed some nice hands all game long. Scored on a breakaway by breaking up a play along the wall in the d-zone, chipped it by a defenseman and got away. Impressive speed. Protects the puck well and buys some time for himself to make a play. Got too aggressive at times and was caught out of positioning thinking about offense. Opponents had a difficult time defending him because he was a rover in the offensive zone and created a lot of mismatches. Defensively, Cullinane was good at keeping the rush to the outside and used his stick effectively. He has to get bigger and be more willing to engage in physical battles to be more effective.
LA#13 F, Light, Wyatt Very small forward who was quite effective in the offensive zone. Used his skating to his advantage and was able to draw a couple penalties by moving his feet. Stands at probably no more than 5’2. Quite elusive with the puck, and showed off some nice skills. Displayed some nice vision all game long, and is deceptive a good skater. Got over powered often during the game, and needs to be stronger on his skates.
SCOUT’S NOTES: A good back and forth game. LA is a very small team, but filled with a bunch of skilled players on offense and defense. They play with a lot of speed to try to make up for their lack of size. Dante Fabbro was very impressive. Seems to be the complete package. Curious to see how good he will be in mid-season form, and just what kind of improvements he can make to his game.
