Quebec Remparts vs Sherbrooke Phoenix, Sept 28, 2012

Que #19 Kurt Etchegary C 2013 draft eligible: His skating looks average again, likes to play the game with a lot of grit, plays tough with his stick, makes the simple plays and really executes them well, comes back deep to help his D-man and even though he is undersized wins a lot of battles; got undisciplined in the 3rd and needs to get a better control of his temper; plays the game on the board pretty well.

[sociallocker]QUE #73 Adam Erne RW 2013 draft eligible: Quick released hard shot; really good aggressiveness and angling on the forecheck, caused multiple turnovers in Sherbrooke’s zone; he is relentless and very disciplined with his stick, will never give up on a play; loved to see him work around the net; showed nice vision finding open men and great timing to do tape to tape passes cross-ice; plays the slot on the PP and the right point on the PK and does an excellent job in both special units showing versatility; loves the center lane drive when he has the puck as he is so quick to get through the D’s; sometimes needs to execute better in his own zone to get the puck out; can be predictable with the puck sometimes.

QUE #94 Nick Sorensen LW 2013 draft eligible: Superb game effort; he doesn’t have the elite skillset of Grigorenko or Duclair but makes up for it with his speed, vision and work ethic. Explosive skater and another great player on the forecheck for Québec; loves to protect the puck while taking speed down the wing; takes decisions quickly and has an elite level of vision of the ice; sees things others don’t see; saw some physicality that I didn’t see in the past; blasted Torok on the boards and Comtois center-ice; really solid on skates; understands the game and that’s why you always see him around the puck; impressive to see him play like that with only 15 Q games under the belt in 13 months.

QUE #27 Brandon Shea C 2013 draft eligible: Better physical implication down-low; he helped his D-men; still doesn’t like the body language has he seems uninterested in what’s going on the ice; not much ice-time; he doesn’t always move his feet and doesn’t have a great level of competitiveness; strong like a horse and wins the battles easily, when he wants to.

QUE #10 Anthony Duclair LW 2013 draft eligible: Too much skills and fancy plays in this game; doesn’t go to the net, stays around the net and around the offensive zone; tried some complex through the neutral zone passes; didn’t use his quickness and his puck protection as much as he did in the first game I saw him against Chicoutimi; seemed to take the game lightly; still was able to create superb plays with his elite speed and great vision but kind of soft/skill plays that works well in the Q but probably not in pro hockey; lacked physical implication; needs to be better than that.

SHE #15 Jonathan Deschamps D 2014 draft eligible: I like the mix of size, intelligence and intangibles you have here; well positioned on the boards in his battles and wins a lot of those against older players because of the good position he is able to take; not afraid of rough play, had a couple of good hits on Duclair and Grigorenko; he is calm with the puck and doesn’t panic; chooses the good options to get the puck out and makes good crisp short tape-to-tape passes; not aggressive enough in his D-zone positionning sometimes is too passive, should be more active with his stick, maybe a lack of confidence doesn’t want to get beat one-on-one; let 3 cross ice passes go by him on the PK; missed some good chances offensively with his slapshot; needs to release the shot quicker and be more confident with the puck.

SHE #7 Vladislav Lysenko D 2013 draft eligible: Had 4 shifts; caused 2 goals and a 2-on-1 in those 4 shifts so his coach decided to sit him down; was too aggressive in the neutral zone and with the quick skaters in Québec, it was easy to go by him; didn’t execute the simple plays, tried passes by the center and his decisions taking was plain and simply bad; needs to be better; bad day at the office.
SHE #28 Daniel Audette C 2014 draft eligible: He is going to need a whole lot of maturing before he can be a factor in this league; Maturity, speed and strength; he hangs on the puck too long; you won’t ever see him in the slot or around the goalie he’s stays far from where it’s tight; tries to stickhandle his way through his opponents; great stickhandler and creative passer; needs to play simple.

SHE #32 Carl Neil D 2014 draft eligible: Really interesting player here; has all the tools to be successful; hard slapshot, good puckhandler, great size for a 16 years old D, skates well; the only things is the decisions’ taking where he needs to be a lot better; he has a lot of confidence to do things many 16 years old wouldn’t; plays high in the neutral zone and likes to be aggressive in the gap control; had a great chance when he jumped on a cross-ice pass by the Remparts in the neutral zone, had a great slapshot; he is not an explosive skater but is fluid; sometimes doesn’t put his head up before taking a decision on the breakout, tries complex plays when simple plays would benefit him; likes to join the rush as he is 4th man.[/sociallocker]
