HockeyProspect.com has released our first prospect ranking list for the 2014 OHL Priority Selection (OHL Draft). Leading the way at the top of our list is Jakob Chychrun from the Toronto Jr. Canadiens. Chychrun has excelled in our viewings and the huge blueline prospect has the ability to dominate games from the back-end. Jakob will be representing the GTHL after being named to Team Ontario, who will compete in the World Under 17 Challenge later this month.

Following up Chychrun in our rankings top three prospects are Vaughan Kings forward, Adam Mascherin and Cliff Pu from the Toronto Marlboros. Adam Mascherin has performed extremely well from day one. While he is a little undersized he is built like a truck and has one of if not the most lethal shots of anyone in this draft class. In at the number three spot in our rankings is Cliff Pu of the Toronto Marlboros, who impressed our scouts right away from the Titans Earlybird Tournament. Pu quickly established himself as a top 10 talent. Cliff does it all, he forechecks hard, battles for pucks, handles the puck well, creates offense and provides consistent impact for his team in all three zones. It is Pu’s combination of top offensive skill and a tremendous work ethic and willingness to compete every shift that allows him to jump into the third spot on our rankings.

Sitting fourth in our list, is Cliff’ Pu’s teammate Michael McLeod. Mcleod’s positional awareness is right at the top of this draft and he shows flashes of excellent high end offensive talent. Filling out our top five is Clayton Keller from Shattuck St. Mary’s. Keller has great offensive instincts and determination. He skates very well,  he’s agile, and possesses all-around good skill sets. He is always moving and he handles the puck quite well. Keller knows how to protect the puck, will find the open man, and can release a quick release on his shot as well.
