DAL#7 D, O’Brien, Matthew Smooth, puck moving defenseman played a quiet but solid defensive game. Not overly physical, but anticipated the play well and was able to keep most of the play to the outside.
[sociallocker] Was caught flat footed at the blue line a couple of times and made a couple of bad gambles to try to take the puck away and missed to have a 2 on 1 occur. With the puck, O’Brien made crisp and simple break out passes all game long. Made good decisions with the puck. Needs to improve his shots from the point to add another weapon to his game along with his passing ability.
DAL#8 D, Gildon, Max Had his hands full in this game going up against a good crop of forwards, and did fairly well. Used his stick effectively all game long to tip shots away and take away passing lanes. Was caught flat footed a couple of times in the neutral zone which led to some dangerous opportunities for his opponents. Covered for his defense partners on a few occasions to break up any plays in the neutral zone. Very crafty with the puck again today. Has an above average shot from the point, just needs to get it on net more often.
DAL#67 LC, Crone, Hank BWC matched him up against Fabbro and Barberis today, and Crone had mixed results against them. At times was able to create some room with his fancy hands, but was overmatched by their physicality and skating abilities more often than not. Got frustrated by the end of the game and took an undisciplined penalty. Scored coming down the left wing short side, bar down. Made Fabbro look silly at one point going inside, outside then back inside and getting a good chance in the slot as a result.
BWC#5 F, Kylyshbek, Ken Awesome skater with great set of hands and the ability to finish. Went end to end and deked out 3 players while doing so. Nobody had a chance to catch him when he was in open ice. His ability to play in speed is quite impressive. Downside is his size. Not very big, so at times had trouble protecting the puck. Good at reading the play and getting to the right places, but certainly not world class. Defensive work can improve. Too puck focused at times.
BWC#7 F, Kryski, Jake Showed off some goal scoring ability at the beginning. Tipped home a hard slap shot from the point, then received a hard pass from the corner and displayed a quick release to his wrist shot. Very crafty around the net. Made a ridiculous pass from the corner to the other side of the net with a saucer pass over 2 sticks, tape to tape for an easy tap in. Loves to generate speed and try to beat opponents going wide. Showed willingness to throw his weight around, but could be more physical overall.
BWC #17, RD, Fabbro, Dante Had the tough task of trying to shut down Hank Crone and did a very good job. Used his size to his advantage and landed a hit whenever he had the chance. A very good skater, matched him stride by stride. Was not fazed by his stickhandling much, just one instance where he got completely turned around. A booming slap shot that he loves to use. PP formation for BWC is an umbrella with him at the top. They go down low, half wall, fake a move to the net then feed Fabbro a pass and he shoots through the open lane. On more than one occasion, was able to spin off of a check and start the attack for his team.
SCOUT’S NOTES: Very entertaining game to end the day. Very fun to watch Hank Crone go up against Dante Fabbro. Crone did not try to avoid him once, just kept going Fabbro all game long. Took a bad penalty because he got so frustrated, but that’s the type of competition he will face in the future. Jake Kryski and Ken Kylyshbek are a dangerous duo. Plays with a ton of speed and pushes opponents far back all the time.
