Kelowna has a long history of developing great defensemen like Shea Weber, Duncan Keith, Josh Gorges and Tyler Myers. It seems that Bowey will join that list in the near future.
Bowey is great at both ends of the ice. He can create some offense with his good vision and shot, be physical in his own end while maintaining good positioning. Considering that this is his first year in the league, he has really impressed scouts with his overall play. Bowey never really looks overwhelmed by anything. He keeps himself composed in all situations and brings very good consistency to his game.
He does not take crazy chances in the offensive zone, but he makes very good reads and uses his shot to his advantage many times. He walks the line well and keeps his head up to analyze the situation and make the appropriate play. An area of improvement would be the speed at which he makes those decisions. There are times when he would wait too long to do something and the plays are taken away. He needs to realize that he does not always need to make the best play available to be successful.
