A two way forward who plays a solid game in both ends of the ice. He does not play a flashy game, but is consistently effective. A very good skater who is strong on his skates, and
likes to make plays by hustling and winning foot races to open areas in the offensive zone, or taking away options in the defensive zone.
Needham must improve his offensive game and be a consistent threat to score. He is good at finding open areas and has good vision, but he has to develop that killer instinct to score and get shots on net. He provides secondary scoring in an inconsistent basis for the Blazers. Needham thinks the game really well, and his ability to read the play separates him from many other 2013 prospects. He has a polished overall game for a 17 year old, but must take his game to the next level to really be considered as a top prospect in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
