College Antoine Girouard Gaulois:

#21 Anthony Beauvillier F 2013 eligible – Beauvillier was the game’s first star with a goal and 2 assists, averaging a goal a game in his first Midget AAA season. The Saint-Hyacinthe native played…

[sociallocker]the role of a playmaker in this game even though he’s more known as a sniper. Beauvillier made a lot of nice passes to his linemates to set them up. While not overly big, Beauvillier is not afraid of going in the corners and will battle hard against bigger opponents as he showed numerous times in this game. Beauvillier was used at center and at RW in this game; he might not be the fastest skater but possesses great anticipation and is a smart hockey player. He is clearly a different player from his older brother Francis who’s playing in the QMJHL with the Rimouski Oceanic.

#22 Jeremy Roy D 2013 eligible – Sunday’s game was a real strong one from Roy, who rushed the puck often in the offensive zone for his team while playing the role of a 4th forward. He also showed a solid physical game in his own end, with at least three solid hits, according to my count. His skating looks good, and he also has an extra gear when he sees an opportunity; late in the 3rd period while his team was down by 1 goal and killing a penalty, a Magog player fumbled the puck in the neutral zone and Roy jumped on it, got into his second gear and scored the game tying goal. On the PK I saw him block a couple of big shots in front of his net and he always has his stick in the passing lane. On the PP, Roy played on the right side (he shoots right) and showed he has a real nice, low, accurate slapshot. He also looks very strong on his skates, was rarely failing down, and has a nice quality of being able to escape easily from forecheckers.

#25 Jean-Christophe Beaudoin F 2013 Eligible – Beaudoin played a good game, both at center and on the wing. A strong skater who likes to generate his speed in the neutral zone and tries to beat defensemen on the outside. Showed some flashes of being a good stickhandler and has a nice, projectable frame. Beaudoin is already a good two-way player and smartly always takes his defenseman’s place when he’s pinching in the offensive zone.

#55 Guillaume Brisebois D 2013 Eligible – He played on the left side on his pairing with Jeremy Roy, has good feet and moves the puck out of his zone well. Brisebois is very poised and calm with the puck, never seeming to panic. A little bit undersized right now, he will need to work on the accuracy of his shot, as he missed the net more than he hit it in this game.

Magog Cantonniers :

#10 Philip Sardinha F Gatineau Olympiques – Sardinha played a good game: he finished with a goal and 2 assists. He was also a constant threat in the offensive zone for the Cantonniers. His feet were always moving, which makes him look more dangerous. Having already been drafted in the QMJHL by the Gatineau Olympiques, he should be a leader on this Magog team this season.

#17 Guillaume Drapeau D 2013 Eligible  – Drapeau had a good showing, as he scored 2 goals in the 2nd period. One of them was from a good slapshot from the point on the power play. One thing I noticed is how good Drapreau was at getting pucks on net. A real nice puck mover, he is already Magog’s most effective puck-moving defenseman. His undersized, 5’9”, 150 lbs frame will need to get bigger and stronger. For me, he was the most impressive “97” on Magog today.

#20 Charles-Anthony Poulin F 2013 Eligible – Poulin has good size already at 5’11” 186lbs, and played hard in the tough areas of the ice. Didn’t do much offensively, even though this was a wide open game with some bad goaltending on the part of Antoine Girouard.

#44 Loïc Chenevert D 2013 Eligibl e- Chenevert is really undersized, listed at 5’8”, 152 lbs, but has nice offensive tools that can be used on the PP. He has good vision and solid a passing game. Needs to work on his shot, but that will come with time as he gets stronger. Also needs to work on his positioning in the defensive zone and on how to play the man instead of the puck more often. He was beaten more than once by Antoine-Girouard’s skilled forwards. Obviously he will need to get stronger to play at a higher level, as he lost too many battles along the boards that afternoon.[/sociallocker]
