Clarington Toros vs. Toronto Marlboros
Minor Midget AAA Toronto Marlboros Holiday Classic Tournament

CLA # 19, D, Nesbitt, Jordan- Nesbitt has some decent size and skating and can pass the puck up pretty well on the breakout to start a rush. He was passing well through the neutral zone for a quick..,

[sociallocker]transition and is calm and patient with the puck, waiting for a lane to open up to take his shot from the point. He was protecting the puck well along the boards and showing some aggression getting involved in scrums.

TML # 27, C, Stephens, Mitchell- Stephens is a power forward with a great skill set including some excellent speed, nice frame, strength and puck skills. He loves to drive the puck wide and cut to the net and was showing some really good puck protection. He can take long passes well in full speed through the neutral zone and just has the explosive speed and hands to get by defenders for great chances on net. There are times when he takes some low chance shots from up high when other options are available with the puck and needs to watch some of the neutral zone turnovers by trying to rush the play.

TML # 16, C, Strome, Dylan- Strome has some really great skill and hockey sense which was on full display in this game. He was driving to the net with his stick down and opening up really well to take passes and provide options. He was also opening up in the high slot on the power play for one-timers and showed some great speed and hands to take the puck for a break and score the team’s 2nd goal of the game with a nice shot. He can work the puck well under pressure and has some really quick hands to drive the puck down low off the rush. He has the capability to gain the offensive zone with ease and then find some space to work with and distributes the puck well. He was also showing some good aggression getting involved in scrums but can’t cross the line and start taking penalties.

TML # 97, D, Maclean, Jordan- Maclean is a player who I have seen play a few times and never really noticed before but it was his shot and strength that really caught my eye in this game. He has a really nice booming shot from the point that is hard and kept down low. He is a big body and very calm with the puck and he is very strong and hard to knock off the puck. He was reading the play well to pick off neutral zone turnovers and was also jumping up down low into the offensive zone to provide options and opened up well to take passes. He had one bad play where he missed his pass to his defensive partner on the power play and turned the puck over.

TML # 7, D, Defarias, Joshua- Defarias is a really quick and agile defenseman who can move the puck well and works great under pressure. He has a nice shot from the point that he keeps down low and on target and was distributing the puck very effectively in the offensive zone. He protects the puck well under pressure and thinks and moves the puck very quickly. He can also hold the offensive line well and showed some great athleticism to get to some pucks.

TML # 68, D, Gagne, Joshua- Gagne is a tall defenseman who can definitely add some strength and size to his frame, but what he does really well is find lanes to jump up on the rush to lead the attack. He has some really nice hands, agility and puck skills to his game. He has some good speed and use of his stick to force the opposition to the outside and also showed some good physicality along the wall in his own end.

TML # 44, LW, Robinson, Noah- Robinson is a really quick forward who showed some of his great speed in this game. He can take passes well up in the neutral zone to break the puck out of his own end and rush it up the ice. He showed some nice battle in front of the net to score the team’s 3rd goal of the game and then later had a great shot from the slot on the power play to score the team’s 5th goal of the game. He was getting down in shooting lanes to block shots as well.

TML # 13, RW, Webb, Mitchell- Webb has some great hands and puck skills and was hustling and competing for the puck along the boards. He made some good lead passes to break a man on the rush in the offensive zone and was very physical and pressuring well on the fore-check along the boards. He also picked up a rebound in the slot to score the team’s 4th goal of the game.

FINAL SCORE: 6-1 Toronto Marlboros [/sociallocker]
