Vaughan Kings
VK #29 (G) Mundell, Barrett – Barrett put on a display with his consistent rebound control and quick lateral movement throughout the game. He did not allow many second chance opportunities for the Reps and stayed nice and big when down in the butterfly.
VK #9 (D) Wilson, Hudson – Hudson showed a great shot from the point especially on the power play. He consistently found a way to get the puck through and on net. He showed great awareness in the defensive zone and made simple smart plays to help his team breakout.
VK #12 (F) Smith, Gunnar – Gunnar stood out for his work in the offensive zone. He did a great job cycling the puck when in trouble especially on the power play. He had good bursts of speed down the wing and created scoring chances with his nifty hands, whether it was a pass to his teammates or driving the puck to the net himself.
VK #67 (F) Sharpe, Cooper – Cooper played a quiet but effective game. He was a handful for the opposition in the corners in both the offensive a defensive zones. Cooper showed good knowledge of the game as he was rarely out of position.
VK #97 (F) Cabrel, Michael – An undersized forward who showed that he was not afraid to play a rough game. Michael worked hard all game and threw the body whenever he had the chance. The hard work paid off as he scored a breakaway goal with a nice quick release from the hash marks.
Mississauga Reps
MR #39 (G) Peccia, Mario – Mario kept his team in the game from start to finish. He showed great vision and effort to fight through screens consistently throughout the game. He especially came up big late in the game once his team tied it up 1-1. His quick feet and good vision allowed him to make 2 very nice saves in the 3rd off of deflections.
MR #91 (F) Fuoco, Gianluca – Gianluca was right in the middle of the majority of the scoring chances the Reps had. He often chose to pass the puck when it would have been a safer and easier play to shoot on net. He played a strong 2-way game and broke up a couple 2 on 1 break’s with his back checking.
MR #19 (F) Isaacson, Nicholas – Nicholas has good size and a very impressive shot. He showed several times throughout the game how tough his shot is for the opposing goaltenders. He managed to get one by the Kings goalie and it was a beauty going high short side. If Nicholas can play a little more physical he can do some damage this season.
MR #18 (F) Carella, Anthony – Anthony played a very solid game at both ends of the ice. He used his size to be affective on the fore check and also to drive the puck to the net to create scoring chances. He also wasn’t one to shy away from blocking shots when his team tied it up in the third period.
MR #14 (F) Shanahan, Devlin – Devlin worked hard and competed for the whole 45 minutes. He stripped the opposition of the puck multiple times and also showed good work on the fore check. If Devlin can improve his puck handling he can become a more effective player.
